Frequently Asked Questions

During treatment a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair follicle. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. You will be given eye protection while the treatment is being carried out.

Different skin/hair types respond differently to treatment and there may also be hormonal/medical factors that affect hair growth. While laser hair removal can delay or inhibit the hairs from growing, it’s not always a permanent solution to unwanted hair – unless the follicle is completely destroyed. Typically, we recommend starting with a course of 6 sessions and then assessing the hair growth. Most people report a significant reduction in hair after 6-10 sessions, as well as maintenance treatments.Treatment sessions are spaced between 4-8 weeks apart depending on the area being treated.

Your hair has three different growth stages. For laser to work, we need the hair to be in the anagen stage which is the active stage of hair growth. However, only 1-30% of your hairs at any given time could be in the anagen stage. Every time you visit for your laser treatment, we are killing off a certain %, i.e., the hairs which are in the anagen stage.

If your hair is dark, then the answer is yes! Unfortunately, laser hair removal is not effective on red, blonde, grey or white hair.

Yes, all skin types (Fitzpatrick scale 1-6) are treatable at Omorphia Laser as we only use medical-grade lasers with the most advanced technologies that allow us to do this safely and effectively.

Some people relate to it as a sensation of an elastic band flicking on the skin. We have a cooling system built into the machine which cools the area as the laser works, making it very comfortable for clients.

Due to government guidelines in Northern Ireland, you are required to have a consultation and patch test carried out prior to your first treatment.

Some medications are contraindicated to Laser Hair removal and can cause skin to become photosensitive to light. Please contact us directly if you are currently taking any medication and we will advise you further.
